Clean Tech Forum Showcases Entrepreneurial Solutions
On February 19, NOVA was invited to participate in a clean tech reception and exposition hosted by Prospect Silicon Valley in San Jose. Prospect Silicon Valley is a clean tech commercialization and demonstration incubator that currently hosts 15 clean tech companies. This event, affiliated with The Global Innovation Summit and Global Innovation Week, was held to raise awareness of the opportunities and solutions in the clean tech sector and to celebrate the global entrepreneurial spirit. It was attended by over 100 participants including San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo and representatives from emerging tech companies, specifically, those developing renewable energy from biofuels, electric power retrofits for regional bus fleets and software solutions for real-time energy visualization. Clean tech promotion and policy officials from Los Angeles, Sweden, China, Estonia, Italy and Kazakhstan were also in attendance. At the event, NOVA staff hosted a table and had an opportunity to speak with participants and share information about NOVA’s role as a clean tech partner.
Prospect Silicon Valley is a partner in the NOVA-led Silicon Valley Electric Vehicle Opportunity Initiative that was funded by the California Energy Commission and California Workforce Investment Board two years ago, with additional funding received last year. The Opportunity Initiative currently has two major programs: promoting the deployment of EV charging infrastructure in multi-unit dwellings and the EV Academy - an effort to better connect the EV employer skill needs with the regional talent supply pipeline.
