NOVA Hosts Employer Forums

Every month, NOVA’s Employer Services hosts employer recruitment events on the NOVA campus as an opportunity for employers to recruit from a large pool of high caliber job seekers, in a short period of time. This is also a chance for NOVA job seekers to get their resumes in front of recruiters and potentially interview for a prospective position, at the same time. NOVA hosts employers who have positions that mirror the skill inventory of its customers and does prescreening to make sure the candidates attending match the specific qualifications of the positions employers are seeking to fill. For example in June, NOVA hosted an employer event for Aerotek staffing agency on June 18 and, on June 25, hosted a biotechnology and healthcare industry panel of employers. Employer representatives from Affymetrix, Intuitive Surgical, Kelly Scientific, PerkinElmer and Bio2Device Group presented before a capacity crowd of over seventy NOVA job seekers who were interested in pursuing a career in this sector. NOVA also assists employers who are conducting job fairs offsite.

In total, NOVA participated in 42 employer events this past year, with nearly 600 job seekers in attendance. Participants were quoted as saying, “I like that NOVA is looking into other different ways to get the unemployed engaged with the companies that are looking for people in their field.” and "It was good to have a one-on-one contact with a recruiter to get some feedback on my resume since I haven't been working in IT for some time and want to get back into IT." An employer customer, Ajilon Professional Staffing, provided this testimonial:  “NOVA is a fantastic resource for both myself and my colleagues with regard to top talent. Rhonda [NOVA staff] makes the process of visiting the NOVA campus [for recruitment] an easy and seamless event while making sure to keep me informed of day-to-day changes. I have found some really great people through NOVA and will continue to do so in the future.”
