Workforce development program to close doors one day a week
The North Valley Job Training Consortium workforce development group said it will have to close its doors one day a week because of budget cuts.
The non-profit is backed by grants through federal, state and foundation channels, with the bulk from the Work Force Investment Act.
Since President Bush agreed with Congress to rescind $300 million from this fund, this agency and similar ones across the country have been hard-hit.
NOVA -- which serves Cupertino, Los Altos, Milpitas, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale -- said on its Web site that it will be closed on Fridays through at least June.
