Programs for Job Seekers
- CONNECT! Job Seeker Center:
A self-help resource center for job seekers. Open to all aged 18 years
and older; no residency requirement.
- Microsoft Unlimited Potential:
CONNECT!’s Microsoft Unlimited Potential program will help you improve your fundamental Microsoft Office skills. The Unlimited Potential program offers free, instructor-led classes in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Database Fundamentals.
- Professional
Effectiveness Program: Interpersonal skills are the focus of
this program that offers individual assessment and a series of training
classes in communicating, team building and problem-solving. Classes
are offered on-site at NOVA's training center. Off-site training is
available as well.
- ProMatch: Networking organization
for Silicon Valley professionals at both management and individual contributor
levels.
- Proven People: For job seekers
aged 50+ who live in Santa Clara County. Links to part-time and
full-time job opportunities.
- WIA Adult: For adult job seekers,
18 years of age and older. Priority given to residents of NOVA's service
delivery area (Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Milpitas,
Cupertino, and Santa Clara). Special services available to eligible
low income and CALWORKS recipients.
- WIA Dislocated Worker:
For adults (18 years and older) who have lost their job or received
notice of lay off and are eligible for, receiving or exhausted Unemployment
Insurance and have a barrier to returning to their occupation/industry
such as inadequate skills or limited availability of occupation. Also
for adults who have been laid off as part of a company closure.
- WIA Displaced Homemaker:
For unemployed or underemployed homemakers
- WIA Youth Program: Helps
youth aged 16-21 receive high school diploma; supports youth aged 19-21
with continued education, entering/retaining employment. Services available
to residents of Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Milpitas,
Cupertino, and Santa Clara.
- Youth@Work: Web site and Youth
Employment Office help youth in NOVA's service delivery area find jobs.
Services available to residents aged 16 to 24 years old living in Sunnyvale,
Mountain View, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Milpitas, Cupertino, and Santa
Clara.
