EDD launches LaborMarketInfo: A New Resource for Business

The Employment Development Department's new Web site, LaborMarket Info, offers several special features targeted specifically for businesses. Employers can create and customize their own labor market information page, consolidating the information they want the most in one convenient location. They can save their data queries and job searches. Using this new Web site businesses can also:

• Track industry and occupational growth trends
• Get a local area profile for the state or a county
• Use the EDD's occupation profiles to develop employee job descriptions
• Compare average local wages for occupations
• Create demographic profiles for affirmative action planning and government contracts
• Post job openings on America's Job Bank and CalJOBS
• Find training programs for your workers or recruitment sources for new workers
• Read timely articles on labor market issues

Business.gov clarifies goverment rules, regulations

The Business.gov Web site helps business owners understand the U.S. government's rules and regulations regarding all aspects of business enterprise. Select from various business topics, such as taxes, business laws, government contracting, international trade and training.

Small Business Technology Institute

Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., the Small Business Technology Institute's mission is to help small businesses understand how information technology can improve operations and enhance success. The Institute is supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration and provides information technology awareness, education, counseling and support to businesses with 1 to 300 employees, with a focus on disadvantaged categories.

NOVA's Workforce Review

The Workforce Review is a two-page fact sheet featuring data on labor force trends, including regional unemployment rate and change, specific labor force data for NOVA's consortium of cities, and workforce reductions in the NOVA area.
