Improving Communication with PEP
The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place. (George Bernard Shaw)
Communication is often not as easy as one might think, and businesses experience daily the problems that poor communication can create, ranging from inter-employee squabbles to improperly manufactured products. Ultimately, poor communication can take a financial toll on a business and can impact a companys ability to compete successfully in the marketplace. Fortunately, assistance in developing and facilitating important communication skills is available through NOVAs Professional Effectiveness Program (PEP).
PEP is a dynamic, hands-on program that allows employees to learn and practice effective workplace communication skills in a safe and encouraging environment. Workshops currently offered focus on such issues as communication within a team environment and communication skills for challenging situations, and a variety of skills for more universal application.
These training sessions can be facilitated either onsite or at NOVAs Sunnyvale office. Participation in these and other workshops has led to better professional relationships between employees, within workgroups, and perhaps more importantly, with business customers. A recent evaluation of PEPs effectiveness found that 97 percent of workshop attendees have used what they learned from PEP to achieve positive results on the job.
For more information about PEP, please contact Janie Trainor, PEP workshop coordinator, at (408) 737-4931 or by e-mail at PEP@novaworks.org. You can also visit PEP online at www.pepskills.org.
