It's a year-round program for young adults ages 17-24 that helps youth prepare for jobs, paid internships, and education.
You need to be able to work directly with our staff, complete tasks independently, and succeed in internships or education without intensive support.
No, we are not a job placement agency. We help you build essential job search skills to effectively get a job and keep a job, now and in the future. We'll help you develop a professional resume and a master application, expand your network, interview effectively, communicate professionally on the job, and identify job leads you can apply for.
When you join our program, you'll work 1:1 with your advisor during the first few weeks to explore careers, develop a resume, and prepare for interviews. Together, you'll identify the best next step to meet your goals: getting a job or getting work experience through a paid internship, or enrolling in post-secondary education. When you achieve your goal of obtaining a job or enrolling in post-secondary education, you will have access to our Alumni Services for 1 year.
Most young adults work with us 12-18 months before beginning their 1-year of Alumni Services.
Be in regular communication with your career advisor to receive guidance and make progress toward your goals.
Let your career advisor know of anything that may interfere with completing your goals.
Stay in contact with our Alumni Services advisor for up to a year to continue having access to support, and share all necessary information about your job or school.
After finishing our program, you have 1 year of additional support to help you find a new or better job or succeed in school! You can attend workshops and networking events, and receive gift cards for work and school milestones. We can even assist you with essentials like transportation, work clothes, and certification fees to support your success.
You'll be paid weekly and earn at least $7,800 for your 400-hour internship! Your hourly rate starts at the Sunnyvale minimum wage, $19.50/hour, and may be higher depending on the internship position and employer.
It is possible to work up to 40 hours, but most interns work around 10-20 hours per week. It mostly depends on the needs of the internship site and your availability.
We'll help you apply by submitting your resume to the internship site. Like any job, you'll interview for the position. Before your interview, we'll help you prepare with mock interviews so you can feel confident and ready!
Internships are available to those 18+. All participants complete career exploration and career readiness activities before beginning an internship (4-5 weeks). Once these activities are successsfully completed, participants are internship-ready. Once ready, the process of applying, interviewing, and onboarding to start your internship typically takes 3-5 weeks.
Sometimes internship sites are able to offer regular employment at the end of an internship, and you are welcome to either accept or decline. After the internship, we will work with you to add your new experience into your resume and LinkedIn profile, help you prepare for interviews, and assist you with your job search or enrolling in education.
